What good sprinkler work looks like.
Most homeowners cannot tell good sprinkler work from bad until year three, when the bad work starts to show. Here is what we look at first.
Flush head retraction
When the system is off, every head should sit flush with the sod — invisible at a glance.
Spray heads using pop-ups instead of risers
Pop-up spray heads in gardens should be sized according to the plant material.
Coverage with overlap
Sprinkler heads, especially gear heads, should overlap their throws — what irrigators call "head-to-head coverage where possible."
Sod that has fully recovered
A well-installed irrigation system shows almost no visible scar within four to six weeks.
Tidy valve boxes
Buried valve boxes should sit flush with grade, and sized properly for servicing.
Minimize overspray
We design every system to try to minimize overspray where possible, to minimize wasted water.
