A walkthrough with you will be done to design your custom lighting system.
Before a lighting system is quoted, our lighting designer will do a comprehensive walkthrough with you on your property to determine your lighting needs. Your consultant will discuss different types of fixtures, bulbs and recommend fixture colours and finishes that will enhance the entire property.
The system we then design is always low-voltage (12V): more flexible, safer near water, easier to relocate as your landscape matures, and generally more unobtrusive both day and night.

Colour temperature
Warmer light (2700–3000K) flatters limestone, brick, brass and natural wood. Cooler light suits steel and glass.
Layering
Combining up-lighting, down-lighting, path lighting and accent lighting creates depth.
Beam angle
A narrow 25° beam draws a column up a specimen tree, while a 36° beam suits most typical lighting designs. A wide 60° flood washes a façade.

A good lighting plan is never just "a few path lights at the front". It picks the spots on your property that change the most after sunset and treats each one with the right technique. The list below is the working checklist we walk through on every on-site consultation.
Feature/specimen trees
Mature oaks, maples and Japanese maples become focal points after dark. We bury an up-light at the base and tilt it to skim the trunk — the canopy then catches the light and creates the moving shadow play that makes the rest of the garden feel alive.
Garden borders & perennials
Deep flowerbeds tend to disappear at night unless they get a deliberate moment of light. Low spread fixtures at the front edge bring perennials and ornamental grasses into the evening picture.
Pools
Reflective surfaces double whatever you point at them. A few well-placed accent lights around a pool deck create reflections that read as much larger lighting effects than the actual fixture count suggests.
Façade & entry
The first impression of the house at night. We light stonework, brick, and architectural details from below to dramatize texture, then add a softer wash on the entry door so guests can read the address without anyone squinting.
Why fixture quality decides the long-term cost.
Given the cost of a landscape lighting project is made up of material, design, and installation, it makes sense to spend a little more on fixtures that can survive Toronto/GTA winters. We install fixtures from Vista, Hadco and similar contractor-grade lines as standard.
We use mostly non-integrated LED professional fixtures that are very reliable and even serviceable. We intentionally do not use integrated LED fixtures because if anything goes wrong with the integrated fixture the whole thing may need to be replaced, which may not even exist in a few years. Our fixtures can be taken apart down to the wire, to the filament, down to the nut if it needs to be serviced — ensuring that your lighting system will last to be enjoyed for many years to come.

Custom final design on-site
We design and lay out your custom lighting system on-site during the installation, based on the design and your actual landscape.
One-day install
Most residential designs are installed in a single day. Cable is direct-buried; fixtures are placed and aimed.
App or timer set-up
Astronomic timer, Wi-Fi controller or smart-home integration — programmed and handed over with a short walkthrough.

How is landscape lighting different from regular outdoor lighting?
Conventional outdoor lighting tends to be utilitarian. Architectural landscape lighting is designed as a layered composition.
Why low voltage and not line voltage?
Low voltage (12V) is safer near water, easier to relocate, uses less power, and reduces glare.
Can you install lighting and sprinklers together?
Yes — and clients who want both find it considerably more economical to coordinate the installations.
Will it work with smart-home systems?
Yes. We can install astronomic timers and Wi-Fi-controlled transformers.
Can we service lighting systems we didn't install?
